NOVA - Mountain of Ice This video work contrasts NOVA's experiences in 2001 with those of Norwegian adventurer Roald Amundsen, who led the first successful expedition to the South Pole in December 1911, and British explorer Robert Falcon Scott, who reached the pole a month after Amundsen and then perished with his men a few miles short of their last food cache.
Antarctic Philately This site is
dedicated to the stamps, postal history and heroic explorers of the great white
continent and its surrounding
islands. Extensive work has gone into
the creation of this site and updates are frequent. The intention here is to provide
noteworthy data, not limited strictly to philately, but also
useful reference material for students researching the history
of early exploration in the southern latitudes.
